Honduras becoming a BIG Player in the BPO Industry

For decades India has dominated the BPO industry. With a growing english speaking population and same time zones then the US, Latin America y taking this industry by storm. Standing out from the crowd is a small country in Central America, Honduras.

What is so special about Honduras?
  • Completely bilingual labor pool: With a population of 70,000+ bilingual and growing. There are 410 established bilingual schools (english/spanish) with many others specializing in french, german, Portuguese, and arabic.
  • University level graduates: Honduras is graduating students in fields of information technology, graphic design, business, telecommunications, computer systems, mechatronics, and much more. Creating a sustainable labor pool at every level that you may need to hire.
  • Lower living costs: With a substantially lower living cost then other central american countries as El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Panama, Honduras has the lowest salaries in the region. So you do not compromise quality of your employees for the price.
In 2011 leading names in the industry opened up shop in the country and have doubled in size with 6 months of operations. Nearshoring in Honduras once again proves the it has become a big player in this industry.

Rec Center in the works! Happy Agents are Productive Agents

As everyone knows its frustrating to be cooped up in an office all day. Monotonous  work gets boring and fast. Thats why Altia Business Park was designed with you in mind. Our glass tower gives you the birds eye views of a breathtaking mountain side with a feel of freedom and being one with nature.

Our next big project is building a recreational center for our tenants employees. We have invited them to participate in focus groups to see the needs and wants of each agent. The ideas have been amazing.

Just to name a few: Massage chairs, big screen tv's, comfy sofa's to lounge, quiet areas for reading or doing homework, music rooms, design rooms, laptops equipped with programs like language software or autocad design. These are all great ideas and although we might not incorporate them exactly we can lean in an area of their liking.

This gives them an awesome relaxing area on their personal downtime. And gives your company a happier employee. Studies show that team members give better results when they are happy at work or in their personal lives. Thats why companies like HP, Google, and Facebook incorporate these fun spaces to their workplaces. Although it might look non-professional to have bean bag chairs in your lobby or a dart board in your office statistics show these brief moments help alleviate stress at work. Resulting in a more productive employee.

Same studies have proved that the human body needs exercise to remain active. Basically the more in motion your body is the better it runs. We are encouraging people to take the stairs instead of elevators. Giving them those extra steps will help improve the body function. We are also looking into having corporate gym memberships, a yoga center, soccer and basketball courts in-house.

We are proud to be a company that takes care of its employees and tenants at the same time. This is  just another way we differentiate from our competitors in Central America.

We are Altia Business Park.. Leaders and your nearshore solution.

The importance of Neutral Accents

Throughout out the world the call center industry has been booming. First in India and Philippines where the necessity of overpopulated countries and the need to put people to work. Even though they were taught a proper english their accents were never neutral. Causing complaints from american customers.

Thats where the America's are jumping on the bandwagon. Providing very neutral accents and the private education system joining in on the money trail. For example in Honduras there are 410 fully bilingual private schools reaching every social level; from to cheap to very expensive. But now the average child from a low to middle class is receiving bilingual education. This is also creating a sustainable labor pool.

This lower to middle class is hauling in investors to the country by the boat loads. Cheaper labor costs and americanized accents, what else can a call center want?

The secret is in the schooling. Children are being taught english as early as the age of 2. In a program schools are calling early stimulation, by the time they are in kindergarten honduran kids that are brought up by spanish speaking only parents, are reciting numbers, words, and with holding conversations completely in english.

Just another reason companies need to check Honduras as the next hub for nearshoring.

Nearshore Honduras, the next BIG trend for 2012

Why is Honduras your nearshore solution?

It has happened to us all before, our computer breaks down, our credit card has been miss-used, our telephone company is charging us something that shouldn’t be on the bill. We end up calling their 1-800 number and the friendly agent but his not so  "accent friendly" english is hard to understand.

With nearshoring a very popular term now a days I think about  the agent in the scenario above and how we can make a BPO’s job a lot easier. Making the customers happy and the business happier as well.

Honduras is the hotspot for call center and datacenter technology. With over 410 bilingual schools in the country and 70% of their population under the age of 30; their fluent americanized accents and being the cheapest labor pool in central America and Mexico, companies have given the green light for expanding or moving their business here.

The country is offering perks and tax free incentives to move your business to Altia Business Park. We are a completely technological building. Providing redundant IT and high power generators guaranteeing your business little to none down time.

Customer ease and lower overhead, Honduras, is definitely the next hub for nearshoring.  If your looking to expand or relocate really give this country a look into.
